Price and DepositsTHE PRICE FOR ALL OF OUR PUPPIES currently is $2,200 - pet only papers are given with all puppies, full rights will be granted to breeder's who qualify after health testing and a title has been complete at 24 years of age at the breeder's discretion with the difference paid. We do require that we have all your contact information and have spoken with you on the phone before we get any type of deposit or payment. DEPOSITS EARLY DEPOSIT$200- Because we like to have time to screen homes and get to know our puppy parents, we do take "early deposits" of $200 before the breeding has taken place. After pups are born, we will take the remainder of the deposit. TOTAL DEPOSIT $400- The total deposit is $400 and will go towards the total price. Putting a deposit down will secure your spot on our list for a puppy, or guarantee a certain puppy if we have already discussed that specifically. If you have paid an "early deposit", then you will only have the difference remaining. WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING PERSONAL CHECKS OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF PAYMENT NOT MENTIONED ABOVE. If for any reason you put a deposit down and decide to wait for another litter you have 12 months to pick another puppy (unless we do not have a litter available in that time). At Red Prairie Retrievers, we do allow shipping to out of state homes, but ALL shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer.

Health Guarantee and ContractAll puppies will leave Red Prairie Retrievers with a health guarantee and contract. We offer a health guarantee because it is vital to remember as humans we are not able to control every aspect of an animal growing and developing in and out of the womb, however through our selective breeding and health testing it is our goal to be able to provide you with the healthiest puppy possible. We never want our buyers to feel like they are alone if a problem arises with their puppy. Puppies will not leave until this is signed and agreed upon. Please note we do not offer any monetary refunds in our guarantee. Once a deposit is placed, we will assume you agree to the contract whether or not it is signed. Please see our contract: **2 Year Hip Guarantee against genetic moderate or severe hip dysplasia which cripples the dog beyond proper movement, grade 2 or grade 3 elbow dysplasia which cripples the dog beyond proper movement, and affected genetic diseases including PRA-1, PRA-2, ICH, MD, NCL, and prcd-PRA disease. If a dog presents with the above-mentioned health conditions at or before 26 months, Buyer is to fix the Golden Retriever and keep him/her as a companion. Breeder offers a puppy at half price in replacement of the affected puppy. If buyer would like a full replacement puppy, he/she must return the original puppy. Breeder retains the right to evaluate the puppy at their vet as a second opinion prior to any replacements being made. In the case of sudden death of puppy, breeder must receive a written notice of puppy’s death from owner’s vet, along with a necropsy report indication cause of death, paid by Buyer. We also reserve the right to acquire a DNA sample and microchip scan from the puppy to determine the dog or puppy as one of our lineages.

Puppy Picking ProcessWe match people with their puppy, so that each puppy is fit in to a home that is best for its temperament and activity level. It is important that each puppy has a home that will be the best fit. Utilizing our applications, we will assess temperaments using the Volhard’s Puppy Aptitude Testing of puppies at 6-7 weeks of age, and match puppies with their homes based on the temperament and present behavior. The following are what we take into consideration: Social Attraction - degree of social attraction to people, confidence or dependence. Following - willingness to follow a person. Restraint - degree of dominant or submissive tendency, and ease of handling in difficult situations. Social Dominance - degree of acceptance of social dominance by a person. Elevation - degree of accepting dominance while in a position of no control, such as at the veterinarian or groomer. Retrieving - degree of willingness to do something for you. Together with Social Attraction and Following a key indicator for ease or difficulty in training. Touch Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to touch and a key indicator to the type of training equipment required. Sound Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to sound, such as loud noises or thunderstorms. Sight Sensitivity - degree of response to a moving object, such as chasing bicycles, children or squirrels. Stability - degree of startle response to a strange object.

Pickup DayWe allow pickups when puppies are 8 weeks of age. If a puppy needs to stay longer, we will discuss starting training and price for that! On pickup you will receive your puppy and a packet of goodies (what's in the packet is discussed below). We will go over and enroll your puppy with their health insurance (free for 30 days) and microchip. We will also go over the documents we have for you, including the vet information and food. We can meet our puppy buyers outside our home for their convenience, but welcome you to come see our dogs and where the puppies have been raised when they are 8 weeks old in our home. We will make these arrangements prior to their pickup date! When you arrive to pickup your puppy please bring the following: 1. The difference that you still owe on your puppy in CASH. We are not taking personal checks AT ALL. We will take online payment ONLY if it is paid at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance, and sometimes Venmo for folks flying/traveling from afar. Please let us know ahead of time what your plan is. 2. A credit card or check if you would like me to help you complete your AKC. If so, please have an AKC name ready to go, starting with "Red Prairie". 3. Crate and water... We recommend that you bring a crate for the puppy to sleep in while he/she is in the car with you. However, some people prefer to hold the puppy on their laps. We will send you home with a travel bowl. 4. A little baggy of dog food or you can purchase a bag of Inukshuk 26/16 (what the puppies are weaned onto) at pickup for $60/bag. We do not feed our puppies their full meals (just a small meal) the day they travel (to avoid sickness or accidents). Bring a light snack and some water if you have a long drive ahead of you. We will send you with some treats as well. STOPPING FOR POTTY BREAKS -Please, keep in mind your puppy is not completely covered for sickness until his/her shots are finished. We recommend that when you are stopping to let your puppy go potty to make sure that it is a safe spot that other dogs may not usually stop at. Puppies can show symptoms of sickness within 3-10 days of exposure, so keep a close eye on your puppy after they get home to make sure they were not exposed on the way! Keep your puppy at home and away from unvaccinated dogs until they get their third series of vaccinations.
